OSHA FIRE EXTINGUISHER
TRAINING REGULATIONS
"Where the employer has provided portable fire extinguishers for employee
use in the workplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program
to familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher
use and the hazards involved with the incipient stage fire fighting." - OSHA
29 CFR 1910.157(g)
Studies have shown that when an individual is Properly trained on the use of
fire extinguishers they are 2-1/2 times more effective when extinguishing a
fire.
The Tryon and Columbus Fire Departments have joined forces to provide the
most effective, least ecologically damaging portable fire extinguisher
training using a new state-of-the-art system built by Bullex. Local
individuals, service clubs, and businesses (see names on banner) joined
forces to purchase the equipment.
Members of both the Columbus and Tryon Fire Departments will bring the
equipment and hands-on training to your business, club, or organization free
of charge. Not part of one of these groups? Watch local media for
advertising of extinguisher training open to the general public.
